The meeting took place today, April 16, 2018 at the University Towers.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Mbeche thanked the students for conducting themselves responsibly during the electioneering period and eventually emerging victorious in the student elections. He congratulated the winners and thanked everyone who participated in the elections though they did not emerge victorious.

Prof. Mbeche urged the student leaders to work closely with students to ensure that the activities of the university run smoothly. That teaching, learning and research continues despite the challenges the university face.

Formerly, the student’s body was represented by SONU (Students Organization of Nairobi University), the name has since changed to UNSA and this is the first elections after the constitution was changed. The students’ fraternity will be represented by Mr. Antony Manyara who won the elections.

Anthony Manyara, the new UNSA Chair, took the opportunity to thank the people who voted him into office. He as well promised to create a close working relationship between the students and the university administration. He noted that together with the incoming leadership, they’ll work together to solve the challenges that the students encounter.

Going forward the new leaders will work on a memorandum of understanding, MoU, that they will present to the University management led by the Vice-Chancellor for immediate action. Together with the student leadership, the University management will work on dignity and image
