During first year students orientation on September 7, 2017 at the Great Court, The University of Nairobi Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Student affairs), Prof. Isaac Mbeche, encouraged them to  join mentorship programme to boost their academic  performance 

In his address to the new students, Prof. Mbeche gave an inspiring speech, calling on the new students to make use of the various resources that have been put in place to enable them develop  holistically and competently.  He went ahead to expound on the roles played by the various units that operate under the Student Affairs Division namely: Dean of Students, Student Welfare Authority (SWA), Sports and Games, the University Health Services (UHS), Special Students Advisor and the University Security.  The Division through its various units is in charge of hostels and accommodation services, sports and games to tap various talents and gifting, students’ associations, student union(SONU) and governance, students governance elections, counseling and career services, special services for students with disabilities, students’ disciplinary matters, students security, and students health.

During the orientation, the freshers were sensitized on the HIV/AIDS pandemic, drug abuse, and other aspects that are part of students’ lifestyle.  The orientation week assists the students settle down and adjust to the new life with ease. 

Prof. Mbeche congratulated and welcomed all students who were selected to join various degree programmes at the University of Nairobi and wished them an enjoyable and successful life.
